Oshkosh Area United Way is pleased to announce BMO Harris Bank as presenting sponsor for the Annual United Way Day of Caring on April 21, 2017. This marks the sixth year that BMO has been the presenting sponsor.
BMO supports charitable initiatives in our community through donations and sponsorship programs over a broad range of initiatives, including education and health; two of United Way’s focus areas.
Also lending support to this year’s event are La Sure’s Banquets & Catering, breakfast partner and Verve, a Credit Union, activity partner.
The Day of Caring, now in its 22nd year, is a celebration of the power of volunteering. The event brings volunteers together with local nonprofits to tackle projects that might not otherwise be completed. In 2016, 58 projects were completed by 155 volunteers at 20 local nonprofits. That totals 465 volunteer hours, valued at $10,728.
Some local businesses offer the opportunity to their employees to volunteer as a group. It’s a great way to increase team spirit and morale while providing employees with an opportunity to interact in the community and gain a greater understanding of how a commitment of time and talents makes a difference.
Day of Caring is also a great spring break activity for the family who volunteers together and shares the benefits of community involvement.
This year’s projects include: spring cleaning for seniors, yard work, painting and mentoring youth.
